Waking up

This morning I woke up as a human. I know you’re all used to it by now, waking up as humans, but it’s been a long time since I woke up as one.  I’m not used to being so small and stiff, and tired! Are humans always this tired, all the time?  While my awakening in human form was surprising and a little disconcerting, there was no mystery. There is only one reason why I could have been locked into human form:  A new heart of the City of London is being born.  The new heart of the city will need someone to act as a guardian for it, as its custodian. That person will almost definitely be one of you, one of the people reading this. My mission is to find that person, the new custodian to the heart of the city.  My name is Clessa Peltier.  And today, I call the hunt for the new heart of the city.

The Hunt, in two directions

The hunt is a journey in two directions.  Every person who joins us in the hunt will be hunting, following clues and messages, hidden codes and puzzles, to find the shape the new heart will take and its place.  But the heart is hunting too… It's looking for its new custodian. It’s a search the heart can’t take lightly.  The heart of the City is forever changing. Each heart of the City is totally different from the hearts that came before. Over the centuries during which this city has stood, the heart has taken endless different forms: a cup of tea, a whistled tune, an explosion of flowers, the London Stone. My personal favourite was a candle, in a narrow avenue, which burned endlessly: a constant white light. I think of it as the first London street lamp.  The heart has to change because the city does. The city is constantly shifting and upending and reimagining itself. The city is never one thing, and it's always on the brink of transforming again. And each new hear...

Many hands (dragons and humans too)

As we draw closer to the day of The Golden Key, and prepare ourselves for the doors of the city to open, and for all of Dragontime to spill in, I am reminded of how many of us there are - dragons I mean! We’re in many forms, across the city, and across time. A full blooming community. It is so wonderful to be reminded of bonds beyond family, and the joy of building your own team to face life’s challenges and the hunt's challenges too.  Any hunt, or journey, is best done together. For our Hunt, while you can absolutely undertake it alone, you’ll find things easier and more joyful with the support of others. Different perspectives, knowledge, histories and heights will all be useful. If you're aged anywhere between 5 and 555 - if any of you are that old, or is that just me? - all are invited and encouraged to play together.
